The Streak - History Will Be Made

Attached is a parody of the 2010 NHL Hockey commercials, "History Will be Made"

Month 84 - 7 Years - Grand View - 2/19/2011

February started out as cold as January ended, but the week of 2/14, the weather broke. With temperatures hitting the mid 60's on Thursday and Friday, Quat and Nutt naturally waited until the balmy 40 degree day on Saturday. The clubhouse worker at Grand View said "If your stupid enough to play, I am stupid enough to let you" and just like that, the streak was about to turn 7. As he brought the cart out he said, "it's wet out there so use your best judgement.. well, if you're playing today, you know the drill." Winds reached up to 40 MPH but that was hardly a deterrent as we broke through for the streak. Fittingly, we played Grand View for this monumental round and the streak had hit the 7 year mark and even more fittingly was the cart number we had was, well, 7 of course.

Month 83 - Glenwood Golf Club - 1/31/2011

As the streak has gone on, there has been some close calls, but none as much as the January 2011 round. Weather was awful again all month in Pittsburgh and the Northeast also got snow so Baltimore was not an option. The final weekend of the month, Quat had 2 birthday parties and to top it off he got sick. The 2 decided that the best option would be to leave late on 1/30 and drive to Baltimore, stay in a hotel and get up early and drive south. The duo left at 9:45 and as they drove on the turnpike, cops started to drive by and then Quat's phone rang. A frantic call from his mom to advise that an accident had occured on the turnpike and involved a fatality. She was relived that we answered and moments later, Billy Nuttall text Nutt the same thing. Stuck in a 3 hour dead stop in New Stanton, the trip to Baltimore was not realistic so they decided to forge ahead after the police directed them to turn around on the pike (see picture). After driving through the Laurel Highlands, West Virginia, Maryland and Virgina, they arrived in Frederickburg, VA at 6 AM. They headed south to Richmond and went to Providence Golf Club only to find that it was closed since it was too cold. Nutt and Quat started to google all local course and found one open, Glenwood Golf Club. They headed over to this course and after a GPS error that took them through the projects, the 2 were ready to tee off. Quat was getting work calls and they sped through the round and were done by 11:15 AM. They headed back, stopped in Fredericksbug, VA to hit up a Waffle House and back to Pittsburgh. Quat dropped off Nutt at 5:30 and we were home and safe with zero sleep and the streak moves on... RIP to the man on the Turnpike, Doug Roberts

Month 82 - Grand View - 12/30/2010

Snow hit Pittsburgh on 12/1 and never stopped. Pittsburgh set a record of consecutive days under 30 degrees to start the month and the travel for golf seemed imminent. On Christmas Day, Grand View posted a picture (1st picture shown) of a nearly melted course. Quat made a trip out on Tuesday 12/28 (next pictures shown) to scout the course and decided after 2 days of melt, we could play there. After waiting as long as possible, Nutt and Quat embarked on a great round. The snow was mostly gone except for the few ares that get no sun. Regardless, the deal was sealed and the round was complete.

Month 81 - Highland Country Club - 11/11/2010

November started out with some great weather and Quat and Nutt went to golfnow.com (formerly last minute golfer) and snagged a round at the once private Highland Country Club. The 17th hole was against a road and possibly one of the few courses that has a bus stop right off a green. The 2 played a great fall round and a familiar voice on Dr. Duchi played in front of us as we celebrated Veteran's Day in style.

Month 80 - Cranberry Highlands - 10/28/2010

With the end of the month looming and the Penn State / Michigan game coming on Saturday and Halloween on Sunday, Nutt and Quat made a quick decision while the weather was good for a Thursday afternoon round at Cranberry Highlands. A quick round that started at 1:30 and the 80th month in a row was set.

Month 79 - Ross Bridge (Nuttall - 9/10/2010) - Cranberry Highlands (Quat - 9/23/2010)

For the last of the 2010 split rounds, Nuttall took to the links in Alabama the day before the Penn State Alabama game. Quat took to the links on a fine afternoon during the week and hit up Cranberry Highlands.

Month 78 - Totterridge (Nuttall 8/8/2010) - North Park - (Quat 8/31/2010)

Quat entered August with some trips and was unable to play with Nuttall. Nutt had a Totterridge round and also mixed in a round at Madison Club. Quat, Nutt, T-Ster and Kratz played a round at Lindenwood on 8/29/2010, but Quat had to leave early for a family reunion so his streak was still in question. On the last day of August, Quatducked into a SLOW round at North Park before work.
