After a mild December and January, February also started out with some springlike temperatures. After a sunny Friday, Quat and Nutt saw another 48 degree day in the forecast and decided on Quicksilver for the 96th month. On the way to Quicksilver, something happened, some snow mixed with some colder temperatures and all of the sudden, the easy round became in doubt. Nutt called good ol Warren at Quicksilver and got no answer. We then dialed Grandview and he said they were open and there was flurries.
Nutt and Quat teed off around 10:30 and the flurries were slow, but steady. On the 6th hole, turkeys were on the green and a gallery grew. As we finished 9, we decided to forge on and the snow started to pick up at a rapid pace. Mother nature was not going to let 96 come easy. The green was covered on 10 with snow. On 11 (videos) the snow just kept coming. Driving up the 12th hole, Quat's fairway drive was nowhere to be found, but as we drove up we came across a racoon sleeping next to the cart path as we abruptly awoke up. The 13th hole featured Nuttall with no traction on a hillside (pictured). 14 was great as usual and the duo came up to 17 playing some pretty good golf. On 18 (pictured) the snow was in full force. Nuttall drove it right down the middle only to search for his ball for a few minutes because it was white ball on snow. He found it and hit 2 perfect shots after searching aagin for his ball, leaving himself with a 12 foot birdie putt. Quat slipped on his 3rd shot and his 4th got him on for a 2 putt bogey. Nuttal cleared a path and buried the most improbable birdie.
As we came off 18, Tom, of the Tom & Tom golf show said he took a picture and put it on his facebook page. He said, you 2 are troopers finishing in that. Well, 96 months (8 years) was in the book in what has been the most memorable round to date. Mother Nature wasn't going to let us off easy for this one.
