Month 108 – South Park Golf Course - 2/24/2013

A morning call to North Park to see if they were open gave hope to a sub thirty degree round. Upon arrival at North Park, the speaker erupted with a "COURSE CLOSED" announcement. Calls to Pittsburgh National, Grandview, Hickory Heights (they had 7 holes open) and then to South Park Golf Course. Nutt called and the man confirmed they were open, but advised "it's cold.". An annoying drive in the South Hills and the tee time was a go. A 1:47 tee time as flurries fell, Quat and Nutt completed the round in 2 hours and 5 minutes. Frozen greens, high winds that led to the coldest round on record and the 108th round was complete and another milestone with the 9th year finished.

Month 107 – Grandview - 1/30/2013

January 2013 started out fairly cool with some snow held over from the New Year.  As the weeks broke, the weekend of January 12th and 13th featured a 61 and 67 degree day respectively.  Somehow, with schedule conflicts, the streak was not extended at that time.  A week later on January 19th, a 51 degree day went to waste as Nuttall was in Vegas and Quat at Penn State.   As extremely cold temps came through Pittsburgh the week of the 21st with highs in the teens only to be capped off on the 25th with a snowstorm throughout the east coast.   The streak faced yet another tough task and on January 28th, warmer temps came through the area with rain and melted everything setting up a 60 degree day opportunity the 29th, which again was missed.  The morning of January 30th with an ominous forecast (radar pictured) in the morning, the streak forged on with a 9:15 AM tee time at Grandview.  The 2 pressed through the front in just over an hour and a slight drizzle started on 8 and 9.  On the 10th hole, 50 MPH winds blew through with a sideways rain.  As they forged ahead on 10, an elderly man who had seen enough was heading back to the clubhouse to resign for the day.  10 and 11 were in monsoon like conditions, but Mother Nature slowly throttled back and the two finished the 107th round.
